MOTION 21:<br />

Rule 5.14 : Infringements and penalties<br />

Reason: The below changes have already been used at all major events and championships after experience.<br />

5.14.1 A pentathlete is penalized by a time penalty of Ten Seconds for each of the following offences:<br />

i) contravening clothing regulations (see 5.5)<br />

ii) modifying the dimensions of the start numbers<br />

iii) false initial start<br />

iv) not placing the pistol safely on the table after the warming up ended and after each shooting<br />

series (see 5.2.5 ii) and 5.4 x) *<br />

v) not loading each shot with the pistol in contact with the shooting table (see 5.2.5 ii and 5.7.2 iv) *<br />

vi) if coaches during the warming up assist the pentathletes outside of the designated coaches area,<br />

first time – warning; subsequent times - 10 seconds penalty<br />

vii) Pentathletes must not For the second time Remove removing their pistol(s) from the box/case<br />

before the official warming up period has started. The first breach will result in a warning. In the<br />

event of a second offence a 10 seconds penalty will be applied<br />

viii) starting the running leg before the shooting time has expired without having hit all 5 targets *<br />

* - These penalties are paid at the shooting range, with the exception of the final shooting series where<br />

it is paid in the Last Penalty Stop Area<br />

5.14.3 A pentathlete is eliminated for<br />

i) deliberately starting running or running leg (anti fair-play behaviour) before the handicap start time<br />

or shooting time has expired without having hit all 5 targets<br />

ii) not completing the course<br />

iii) jostling, running across or obstructing another pentathlete so as to impede their progress<br />

iv) deviation, deliberate or not, from the course<br />

v) unauthorized assistance, if not disqualified, upon discretion of the Competition Jury<br />

vi) using an unapproved pistol<br />

vii) not stopping at the last stop penalty area when instructed by an official.<br />

5.14.5 Combined Event termination<br />

In case a pentathlete is lapped by the leader, their combined event will be terminated and they will be<br />

ranked in last position (see Rules 5.7.2 xii, xiii, xiv). This rule is valid only for Category “A” competitions<br />

and not for Junior or Youth competitions. Additionally, this rule is not applicable in Individual<br />

Competitions, which involve a Team Events at the same time.<br />
