MOTION 9:<br />

Rules 3.3 Control of Clothing and equipment: Additional Specification:<br />

Reason: <strong>UIPM</strong> needs to ensure fairness of competition with regards to the use of appropriate swimwear.<br />

3.8 Swimwear<br />

From 1 January <strong>2010</strong> only swimwear approved by FINA as set out in its published list of approved swimwear may be<br />

worn in a <strong>UIPM</strong> sanctioned competition.<br />

Remark: At present the FINA Rules read as follow<br />

FINA Rules:<br />

BL 8 SWIMWEAR<br />

BL 8.1 In swimming competitions the competitor must wear only one swimsuit in one-piece man or one or two<br />

pieces Women. No additional items, like arm bands or leg bands shall be regarded as parts of a swimsuit. No<br />

Zipper or others fastening system is allowed<br />

BL 8.3 From January 1, <strong>2010</strong> swimwear for men shall not extend above the navel nor below the knee, and for<br />

women, shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor shall extend below knee. All swimsuits shall be<br />

made from textile materials.”<br />

3.3.1 All pentathletes swimwear must be in good condition and non-transparent.<br />

3.3.2 Pentathletes with nonconforming swimwear will not be authorized to compete.<br />

3.3.3 From 1 January <strong>2010</strong> Only swimwear approved by FINA as set out in its published list of approved<br />

swimwear in the year of competition may be worn in a <strong>UIPM</strong> sanctioned competition.<br />

3.3.6 No swimmer shall be permitted to use or wear any device or swimsuit that may aid his/her speed, buoyancy or<br />

endurance during a competition (such as webbed gloves, flippers, fins, etc.). Goggles and caps may be worn.<br />

3.3.7 Any kind of tape on the body is not permitted unless approved by the Competition Jury, or where applicable,<br />

the <strong>UIPM</strong> Medical Director (in accordance with FINA Rules)<br />
