A Dark Confession<br />

Perhaps when you bought this book you were under the impression that it was written by a certified<br />

type practitioner with thirty years of experience. Boy were you wrong!<br />

The type practitioner certificate costs $850, and I’m too poor to afford it. As for decades of<br />

experience, well.<br />

So before you make any major life decisions based on this book, you’d better be aware of the<br />

following:<br />

Myth: The author is qualified to give me advice about my life.<br />

Truth: The author knows just enough to be dangerous, and she’s been wrong before.<br />

Myth: The author has a degree.<br />

Truth: Yes, in Geology.<br />

Myth: This book was painstakingly researched.<br />

Truth: This book was haphazardly researched. The author read one of a dozen available studies on<br />

each area, the rest being inaccessible due to various reasons. It's a fact of life that studies tend to<br />

contradict one another, and the author would not be the slightest bit surprised to find that<br />

information in this book turned out to be wrong after further research. Besides errors of fact, there<br />

are no doubt numerous errors of omission. The author is confident that this book is missing vital<br />

information that would change a reader's perspective upon the information presented.<br />

Basically, all you’re getting is a jumble of stuff that I happened to stumble over while meandering<br />

through the halls of knowledge. Few efforts have been made to corroborate what you’re reading by<br />

checking multiple sources. My only hope is that randomly selected, uncorroborated information is<br />

preferable to no information at all.<br />

By now you’re probably thinking, “Thank goodness she got the book checked by a real editor. At<br />

least there’s that.” Actually, this book was self published. But you probably figured that out by the<br />

second sentence. All I can say is caveat lector—let the reader beware. I apologize in advance for
