<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> four next years, 1677-80 ('/-. 124, 126, 12t):50\ In 1678, June 26, he was also<br />

aga<strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong> parliament for <strong>the</strong> Ihu^'Ii, and a nicnib-r<strong>of</strong> a committee <strong>of</strong> supply (A. P.S. 52), 'and<br />

<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> next year, 28 June 1 679, was aira<strong>in</strong> nom<strong>in</strong>ated by <strong>the</strong> council to be <strong>the</strong>ir commissioner<br />

at <strong>the</strong> next general convention <strong>of</strong> tiio burghs at Ed<strong>in</strong>burgh (D.C.I!. 123). In 1680, hec. 9,<br />

he and <strong>the</strong> council <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> burgh were suetl by <strong>the</strong> Earl <strong>of</strong> ra<strong>in</strong>nure for lett<strong>in</strong>g a debtor<br />

to <strong>the</strong> Earl es<strong>ca</strong>pe out <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Tolbooth, but were as.soilzied by <strong>the</strong> Court (S.W. 450).-'<br />

He added considerably to his estates,' chiefly by <strong>the</strong> acquisition <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> baronv <strong>of</strong><br />

Easter I'owrie <strong>in</strong> 1662. This property had origiu.ally (1500) belonged to tlio Ogilvie'a <strong>of</strong><br />

that ilk,'' and later to <strong>the</strong> Durhams, by one <strong>of</strong> whom it was <strong>in</strong> 1659 disponed, with <strong>the</strong><br />

barony <strong>of</strong> Ogilvie <strong>in</strong> warramlice, to Dougall Mcl'her.sone <strong>of</strong> Bellachroan (.S.W. 328\ by<br />
