The lands <strong>of</strong> K<strong>in</strong>gennie-' were purchased by him some n<strong>in</strong>e years after his acqnisition<br />

<strong>the</strong>re is an obligation, 17 Sept., by Guthrie not to sell any <strong>of</strong> his lauds or deal with <strong>the</strong><br />
price <strong>of</strong> K<strong>in</strong>gennie without <strong>the</strong> consent <strong>of</strong> various persons, <strong>in</strong>cludiuL,' <strong>the</strong> clerk (S.W. 124).<br />
As <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>ca</strong>se <strong>of</strong> Wester Gourdie, so <strong>in</strong> that <strong>of</strong> K<strong>in</strong>gennie, <strong>Wedderburn</strong> seems to have<br />
at once set about free<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> property from <strong>the</strong> charges upon it. Thus he redeems one<br />
annual rent, 20 Oct. 1600 {ib. 125) ; and pays <strong>of</strong>i' some arrears <strong>of</strong> ann<strong>the</strong>r, 1 Nov. {i/> 126,<br />

Ramsay, for <strong>the</strong> sale <strong>of</strong> K<strong>in</strong>gennie, <strong>in</strong> which <strong>the</strong> price is put at 16,000 merks iu all, <strong>of</strong> which<br />
4,800 is said to have gone <strong>in</strong> clear<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong>t' charges (ili. I'll). On <strong>the</strong> same day (I .Vov.) <strong>the</strong><br />
property is renounced by <strong>the</strong> vendors as sold " without redemjition " i il>. l'_8) ; KlizabL-th<br />
Fethie, wife <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> vendor, makes a judicial ratifi<strong>ca</strong>tion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> contract (i/>. 12'.t) ; and <strong>the</strong><br />
lands are resigned "by delivery <strong>of</strong> stuff' and baton " <strong>in</strong>to <strong>the</strong> hands <strong>of</strong> William, Ivirl <strong>of</strong><br />
