28 Jan. 1625, iu a decree to him and his wife for <strong>the</strong> m.iills <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir South<br />

Argylegait house (D B.R. 410), but died before 26 .May 1029, <strong>the</strong> date <strong>of</strong> u bond<br />

made by Cathar<strong>in</strong>e <strong>Wedderburn</strong>, '• relict <strong>of</strong> .Mr. Willi.im Fcrgn.son,'' to Jlobert Clayhills<br />

(R.D. 107). Cathar<strong>in</strong>e herself is named <strong>in</strong> a bond to her, lO.'tl, by Sir John<br />

Ogilvy <strong>of</strong> Innerquharitie (R.D. K'6) ; <strong>in</strong> a claim, I0:i3, nga<strong>in</strong>^t her by Robert<br />

Clayhills, no doubt <strong>in</strong> regard to <strong>the</strong> bond <strong>of</strong> 1629 (D.C. 62), and <strong>in</strong> ii discharge,<br />

1639, b}- her daughter, Magdalen Ferguson, "relict <strong>of</strong> A'e.Nandcr Lyne and now<br />

wife <strong>of</strong> John Dun<strong>ca</strong>n" (D.B.R. 440). She is named 14 Sept. 10 10, when she got<br />

a decree <strong>in</strong> her favour (D.B.R. 421),^ and was liv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> A]iril 10 I 4, as her liro<strong>the</strong>r<br />

James, <strong>in</strong> his will <strong>of</strong> that date, leaves a legacy to "niy sister C'athariue" (llr.T. 13).<br />

She died, however, before 10 Jan. 1649 when <strong>the</strong>re is a decree v. James Kyde,<br />

"executer<strong>of</strong> his mo<strong>the</strong>r-<strong>in</strong>-law, Cathar<strong>in</strong>e <strong>Wedderburn</strong>, deceased" (D.li.ll. 4o0).<br />

She was buried, accord<strong>in</strong>g to what seems to have been u common custom, with her<br />

first husband, <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Howfi' <strong>of</strong> Dundee, <strong>in</strong> a tomb on which <strong>the</strong> follow<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>.seriptiou<br />

There is a curious memorial <strong>of</strong> Cathar<strong>in</strong>e Wniderburn's first marriage <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

form <strong>of</strong> a small pewter bo-X or <strong>ca</strong>sket, which once bclon-ea to <strong>in</strong> r, and <strong>of</strong> whiclj<br />

an illustration is given at <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> this cb.ipter. This box is <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> form <strong>of</strong> a<br />

sphere with a raised mould<strong>in</strong>g runn<strong>in</strong>g round its greatest cireumfermee. 'i'lie<br />

names <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> months are on one hemisphere, and on <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r are thirty-one radial<br />
