(D.P.B. 305); 18 May, as fa<strong>the</strong>r-<strong>in</strong>-law <strong>of</strong> William David.son he pets a diseharge (D.P. B.<br />

306); 27 May l-'ig" lias a decree aga<strong>in</strong>st him (//;. 316 r) ; 18 .huie is a party to <strong>the</strong><br />

marriage contract <strong>of</strong> liis daughter Margaret with George Blak (/'/, 312) and C Dee. 1598,<br />

14 April 1600, gets decrees <strong>in</strong> his favour (D.B.R. 327/^, 3:53 (t). He is also named<br />

25 April IGOO as one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> fa<strong>the</strong>r's k<strong>in</strong> to Elizabeth, daughter <strong>of</strong> John Wedderliuni<br />

<strong>of</strong> Craigie (D.B.R. 334, and ante, pp. 64-G.">i and, 21 June <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> same year when, subject to<br />

charges <strong>in</strong> his own favour, he settles land on his daughter Janet and William Davidson,<br />

her husband (D.P.B. 3'5lj) and he may be <strong>the</strong> Peter Wedderbuni who ist<strong>in</strong>ed, I I Dec. H'>i 0,<br />

for brew<strong>in</strong>g 14d. ale(D.C. B. 23) The last reference to him as liv<strong>in</strong>g is dated 1 Aug. ltJ04,<br />

when Peter Wedderbuni, elder, enters <strong>in</strong>to a contract with Dr. David Kiiilndi, son to his<br />

wife's bro<strong>the</strong>r, John K<strong>in</strong>loch (R D. 10), but he died before 5 Nov. <strong>in</strong> that year, when <strong>the</strong>re<br />

is an edict <strong>of</strong> curatory to Peter Wedderbuni, son <strong>of</strong> umquhill Peter, burge.ss (D.U.K. 350),<br />

and one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> first acts <strong>of</strong> this son is to implement, 6 Feb. 1607, his fa<strong>the</strong>r's contn>ct with<br />

Dr. David K<strong>in</strong>loch (D.P.B. 3G6.) There are sevenil references to old Peter Wedderbuni<br />

after his death, both <strong>in</strong> reuard to his son (D.P.B. 385; D.B.R. 376), and <strong>in</strong> reference to<br />

lands once his (S.W. 36S;^D.P.B. 490, 566).<br />

He married before 1577 (D.B.R. 231) Margaret BL<strong>in</strong>loch, daughter <strong>of</strong> William<br />

K<strong>in</strong>loch and Janet L<strong>in</strong>dsay (D.P B. 313) through wl<strong>in</strong>m ho aeiiuired a South Murr,iy;.'.iit<br />

land, near " that <strong>of</strong> William Lochmalony and <strong>the</strong> w<strong>in</strong>dmill " (.S.W. 313; D.P.B. 241 »(, 279),<br />

which, with a North ^larketgait land, descended to her eldest son {il>. 830, 349). By her,<br />

who died before 10 Jan. 15';>9, when hsr son Peter is named as her heir (il>), he had two<br />

sons and three daughters :<br />

1. Peter 'Wed.d.erburii [1585 ?— 1627?],' eldest son <strong>of</strong> Peter Wedderbuni and Margaret<br />

K<strong>in</strong>loch, is first named, 28 April 1595, <strong>in</strong> a discharge by Peter Wedderbuni. elder,<br />

and his son Peter Wedderbuni. younger (D.B.R. 300 f). He was entered heir to<br />

his late mo<strong>the</strong>r, Margaret K<strong>in</strong>loch, <strong>in</strong> a North Murraygait land, 10 -Ian. 1599<br />

(D.P.B. 330). and also^<strong>in</strong> a North Marketgait propcrtj-, 3 .Ian. 1003 (i'''. 349). He<br />

was still young at this date, as he is <strong>ca</strong>lled " puer " <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> entry, althoug'i oM<br />

enough to jo<strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong> a contract between his fa<strong>the</strong>r and Dr. David K<strong>in</strong>ldch, d.itcd<br />

1 Aug. 1610 (U.D. 1610). On his fa<strong>the</strong>r's death he got an edict <strong>of</strong> cunitory,<br />

5 Nov. 1604, so that he was <strong>the</strong>n under age (D.B.R. 350), but seems tohaie<br />

atta<strong>in</strong>ed his majority bj- 6 Feb. 1607, when he implements <strong>the</strong> al-oveiiirntidued<br />

contract (D.P.B. 366). Ho is <strong>ca</strong>lled "young Peter Wedderbuni," 6 .hui. 16u6<br />

(D.W. 9 c), and, 9 Sept., Peter Wedderbuni. younaer 1<br />

his fa<strong>the</strong>r's eldest son is clear from <strong>the</strong> confirmation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> will <strong>of</strong> his bro<strong>the</strong>r-<strong>in</strong>law,<br />

William iJavidson, to which ho is <strong>ca</strong>utioner, and <strong>in</strong> which he is cxpre.'vsly<br />

<strong>ca</strong>lled '• eldest son <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> late Peter" (Br.T. 1). Ho was thus luir to his uncle<br />

Kobert, <strong>the</strong> notary, by whose will (1611) he is left a legacy " <strong>in</strong> sjitisfaction <strong>of</strong> all<br />

heirship claims" (' Br.T. 2). He, "younger," was entered heir to him <strong>in</strong> variouH<br />

properties (29 Feb. 1612>, which heat once resigned to his cou-<strong>in</strong>, Jumes W.dd.-rburn,<br />

merchant, and his wife, Chri-stian Lovell \D.B.B. 381 i.- In 1615 (•.'7 Feb.<br />

20 Sept.) he was entered <strong>in</strong> lands <strong>in</strong> Dundee as heir to his parents (D.l'.l!. ?'^'>),<br />

end, 5 Jan. 1616, he is entered <strong>in</strong> lands <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fastfield <strong>of</strong> Dudcp a« heir <strong>of</strong> his<br />

uncle, Robert, <strong>the</strong> notary (D.P.B. 405 ;<br />
