Elizabeth <strong>Wedderburn</strong>' [14i}2?— 1572], viio married four times, viz. :<br />

i. AlexunJer Luvell. 'I'he date <strong>of</strong> this marriage is not known, but it was before<br />

1521, <strong>in</strong> which year (5 Nov.) she, as wife <strong>of</strong> Alexander Ogiivy, is named as " mo<strong>the</strong>r<br />

<strong>of</strong> .lames Lovell, son and heir <strong>of</strong> tlie late Alexander I ovell, <strong>in</strong> regard to <strong>the</strong><br />

" airscliip " <strong>of</strong> iier son (^D.H.ll. 1 1<br />

). In <strong>the</strong> follow<strong>in</strong>g year, 5 Feb. 1.'322, she, " wife<br />

<strong>of</strong> Alexander Ogiivy and relict <strong>of</strong> Alexander Lovell," consents to <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>ventory <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> airscliip goods <strong>of</strong> her son James liOvell, while her bro<strong>the</strong>r James Wcdderbunj<br />

is surety for her delivery up <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> same to <strong>the</strong> m<strong>in</strong>or at his majority {ib. 16). Later<br />

on, 23 Feb. 15.32, her said son gives hersas<strong>in</strong>e anew <strong>of</strong> a North Marketgait life-rent<br />

(D.l'.B. 44), so that he was <strong>the</strong>n probably <strong>of</strong> age, <strong>in</strong> which <strong>ca</strong>se her first marriage<br />

must have been <strong>in</strong> I51l), and her own birth date as early as 1492. Otlier references<br />

to her and this son will be found i'.l'.B. 133, D.B 11. \\Q, &c.<br />

ii. Alej<strong>in</strong>vler 0(/i/vi/, jirovost <strong>of</strong> Dundee. This marriage took place before<br />

5 Nov. 1521 (D B.li. 11). She is named as Ogilvy's wife 25 Dec. 1530, when<br />

Thomas Carale resigns a North Chakkeraw land <strong>in</strong> her favour (D.P. {!. 34), but was<br />

aga<strong>in</strong> a widow before 13 Oct. 1531 (ib. 41) She was jjrobably still a widow<br />

3 June 1 554. when <strong>the</strong>re is record <strong>of</strong> Ivizabeth W'edderburn (not designed) obta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />

a license from Alexander Fife to build her mansion contiguous to Fife's wall [ib. 51 c).<br />

iii. Archibald Campbdl <strong>of</strong> Murthlie. It does not appear how soon after<br />

1530-31 this marriage took place, but she was aga<strong>in</strong> a widow before 10 A[)ril 1545,<br />

when John Camiibell, as bro<strong>the</strong>r and licir <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> late Archibald, sued her for <strong>the</strong><br />

writs<strong>of</strong> Murthlie (11. A.D. 9). There were o<strong>the</strong>r differences between <strong>the</strong>m, all <strong>of</strong> which<br />

were <strong>the</strong> subject <strong>of</strong> a settlement 10 A[iril 154G, when <strong>the</strong>re is registered a contract,<br />

15 March 1545-4G, between Elizabeth \\'edderburn, relict and executrix <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> late<br />

Archibald Campbell (and now spouse <strong>of</strong> Patrick Lyoun), and John Campbell to settle<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir differences (ib. 10). AVhetlier this agreement was <strong>ca</strong>rried out seems doubtful,<br />

as 1 4 March 1547 she and her iaisband, Patrick Lyoun, got a decree c. John Campbell<br />

for suspension <strong>of</strong> letters by him for non-implement <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir agreement (ib, 13;.-<br />

iv. I'tttrick Lyoun, burgess <strong>of</strong> Dundee. This marriage probably took place<br />

1545-46. It was certa<strong>in</strong>ly before 30 .Ian. 1547, wiien <strong>the</strong>re is a gift under <strong>the</strong> Privy<br />

Seal to Patrick Lyoun and Elizabeth <strong>Wedderburn</strong>, his wife, and <strong>the</strong> survivor <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong>m, <strong>of</strong> all <strong>the</strong> Queen's customs on all goods belong<strong>in</strong>g to <strong>the</strong>m imported at Dundee<br />

(R P.S. 17). She is named as Lyoiui's wife 26 .March 1552, when a sum <strong>of</strong> money is<br />

arrested <strong>in</strong> her hands (D.B.R. »4); 18 May l.'')53 [ib. 43/-/); 14 June 1558, when<br />

Alexander Green is decreed to deliver to her "ana double du<strong>ca</strong>t ' (D.B.R. )^0) •<br />

and 16 Nov. 1558, when <strong>the</strong>re is registered a tack, dated 27 Aug. ],-,50, <strong>of</strong> a<br />

quarter <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lar.ds <strong>of</strong> Grange <strong>of</strong> Kyntreith, made by <strong>the</strong> Abbot <strong>of</strong> Cupar to her<br />
