1. Agues Wedderbiirn, named <strong>in</strong> tlie confirmation <strong>of</strong> lier niotlier's will<br />

(S.A.R. 4), and 10 March ItiOl D.l! U. 337 «). She married (;tlh,rt Ramsay, loader,<br />

aud is twice mentioned as his wife, viz., 5 Nov. 1G04, when her (elder?) bro<strong>the</strong>r revokes<br />

his m<strong>in</strong>ority acts and especially his sign<strong>in</strong>p;<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> marria^'e contract <strong>of</strong> his sister Agnes<br />

and Gilbert Kamsay, and aga<strong>in</strong> G lice. 1605, when she and Uanisay are numodln a<br />

decree (D.B U. 349, 35.')). A daughter <strong>of</strong> this nmrriuge, (irisild Hams;iv, is named<br />

<strong>in</strong> a letter from Alexander Halyburton to Dr. John <strong>Wedderburn</strong> <strong>in</strong> Moravia <strong>in</strong> 16*4,<br />

and <strong>in</strong> ano<strong>the</strong>r from <strong>the</strong> Doctor to Alexander <strong>Wedderburn</strong> <strong>of</strong> K<strong>in</strong>gennie <strong>in</strong> 1647<br />

(See post pp 32-33).<br />

2. Margaret <strong>Wedderburn</strong>, also named <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> confirmation <strong>of</strong> her mo<strong>the</strong>r's<br />

will (tit gup.). She married, before IG Nov. 1615, HoLert llalyhurton (D.P.li. 388),-<br />

who died before 1640, when she is designed his relict (D.B.U. 431). She was left a<br />

legacy <strong>of</strong> 1,800 merks by her brotlier <strong>the</strong> Bishop, who also bequea<strong>the</strong>d a similar sum<br />

to her daughter Christian (R.l). 132-33). She died <strong>in</strong> 1643, perhaps about July,<br />

as on 25 August reference is made to her as deceased and to her sou Alexander, who<br />

was <strong>the</strong>n under age, as <strong>the</strong>re is an edict <strong>of</strong> curatory to him (D.B.R. 44G). He had,<br />

however, gone abroad to Stockholm, to acquire a commercial tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g, nil640, but<br />

<strong>ca</strong>me home upon <strong>the</strong> death <strong>of</strong> his mo<strong>the</strong>r. Of this event he gives an account <strong>in</strong> his<br />

letter (S.W. 291) to liis uncle, John <strong>Wedderburn</strong>, who seems to have mistrusted<br />

his <strong>in</strong>terference with his house property <strong>in</strong> Dundee' (See post )ip. 32-33).<br />

3. Helen <strong>Wedderburn</strong>, named only <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> confirmation <strong>of</strong> her mo<strong>the</strong>r's will,<br />

and probably, <strong>the</strong>refore, died young and unmarried.<br />

The two sons <strong>of</strong> John <strong>Wedderburn</strong> and Margaret L<strong>in</strong>dsay, (.i) Jolni, 'ircitomedicus <strong>in</strong><br />

Moravia, and (//) James, Uishop <strong>of</strong> Dunblane, rema<strong>in</strong> to be dealt with :<br />
