Dear Parents/Guardians,
I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Jennifer Eckert and I am the new
district Student Assistance Counselor. I am very excited to join Keyport Public Schools and look
forward to getting to know the students and parents of this wonderful community. I will be
available at Central School one day a week to provide a Student Assistance Program to your
children and the staff.
A Student Assistance Program is a comprehensive school-based program for students (K-12)
designed to identify issues which prevent students from learning and being successful in school.
Student Assistance Programs provide education, prevention, early identification, intervention,
referral, and support groups for students. They foster risk reduction and positive asset
development and work to provide a safe, alcohol and drug free environment. SAPs provide a safe
place in which students are free to express their feelings and concerns as they develop positive
relationships with peers and adults and acquire knowledge, skills and attitude development
leading to student success in the school setting.
Throughout the school year I will be providing services within the classrooms, during lunch,
through educational support groups and meeting individually with students as needed. I will also
be organizing student assemblies and evening parent presentations to provide educational
information.
During the week of October 22-26, all Keyport students will be engaging in fun activities to
recognize Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week is celebrated nationally to raise awareness of the
dangers of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. Please take a moment during the week of October
22-26 to talk with your child about the activities they participated in to celebrate.
If you have any questions about the Student Assistance Program or would like information about
community resources, please feel free to contact me at 732-212-6100 x3260 or visit the SAC web
page under the Guidance tab at www.kpsdschools.org.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Eckert
Dear Parents,
In order to ensure safety for all students, we ask that everyone use the Union and Division Street
entrance when visiting the Central School between the hours of 8:35 a.m. and 2:49 p.m. Please
understand that we are not looking to inconvenience parents, but working to provide the safest
environment possible for your child. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Respectfully,
