Staff at VEKA plc were presented<br />
with the Deal of the Year Award<br />
at the recent 2012 Lancashire<br />
Telegraph Business Awards. The<br />
accolade, sponsored by Deloitte,<br />
was handed to VEKA MD Dave<br />
Jones who said: “To say we are<br />
thrilled would be an<br />
understatement. Iamvery lucky to<br />
work with such agreat team of<br />
people in Burnley. We have<br />
been working on this deal for<br />
three years and to win this<br />
award is very overwhelming.”<br />

(the basis of the competition)<br />
comes after VEKA acquired<br />
Bowater Building Projects<br />
and in the process<br />
safeguarded over 100 jobs<br />
and created in excess of 115<br />
new jobs Veka’s Burnley site.<br />
The combined company now<br />
employs nearly 450.<br />
When Veka plc announced the<br />
acquisition of Bowater Building<br />
Products in June 2011, it was a<br />
move that saw the company emerge<br />
as the number one manufacturer of<br />
PVC-U window systems in the UK,<br />
with aturnover of more than<br />

THE TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT AT<br />
HURST PLASTICS’ has been recognised for<br />
achieving ‘outstanding performance’ on<br />
deliveries over the last six months.<br />
The department, consisting of ateam of<br />
nine drivers, not onlysurpassed their average<br />
month on month target of 98%, for on-time-infull<br />
delivery performance but also gained<br />
accreditation from customers praising them<br />
for service.<br />
