Apeer Doors MD Asa McGillian has raised some £3,000 for the Samaritans and
Action Cancer when he took part in awhite collar boxingbout at the Tullyglass House
Hotel in Ballymena, beating his opponent in the secondofthe three-round fight.
Said Asa: “One of the guys who worksfor Apeer talked me into taking part and before I
knew whereIwas, Iwas training six days aweek for 10 weeks! It was completely nerve
racking –somethingI’d never done before,” said Asa. “However, it meant that Apeer doors
and our suppliers raised aworthwhile sum for two important charities.”
Asa trained undersix-times world champion professional boxer Eamonn Loughran to
ensuresuccess at the charity boxing event which raised over £20,000 in total and attracted
over 1,000 spectators to the 10 fight event.
The boxing match marksasecond ‘sporting’ event for the company. It recently released
afun video of UK strongman Glenn Ross going threerounds with an Apeer door –and losing!
