Make the right move
The SAFO ® orthosis was originally designed as an alternative to
the more rigid AFO. We are now pleased to introduce the SAFO
Go - the next generation in the SAFO ® range. The SAFO Go
was designed to accommodate growth in children more easily:
it provides a more friendly and effective approach to orthotics for
patients with Cerebral Palsy and other conditions needing the
use of an AFO. The SAFO Go provides support for the foot by
replicating the normal movement of the foot and ankle to help
the lifting of the foot during the swing phase of walking, thus
preventing the patient from tripping or walking
on their toes.
Benefits of the SAFO Go
The SAFO Go is available in 5 standard ‘off-the-shelf’
children’s sizes. The size is chosen using the patient’s
shoe size.

SAFO Go Fitting Instructions
Step One: Select closest SAFO Go to
client’s foot size.
Step Four: Remove SAFO Go from
patient’s foot and clean area to be
joined with wipes provided. Apply
Silicone Adhesive in a thin line to the
overlapping silicone within the
areas marked.
Step Two: With the patient’s foot flat
on the floor ensuring a dorsi-flexed
position; apply selected SAFO Go to
patient’s foot and push the front of
the SAFO Go flat against the leg and
fasten Velcro straps.
Step Three: Keep foot in a dorsi-flexed
position and wrap the foot section
around to overlap the inside of the
foot, until the entire foot section fits
snugly. Mark on the silicone, using
a black pen, around where overlaid
area sits.
Step Five: Fasten edges firmly with
the clips provided. Apply localised
heat with heat gun for 2-3 mins or
until even heat along SAFO overlap
is achieved. Apply pressure until
adhesive holds; ensure silicone has
adhered and all excess silicone
adhesive has been removed from the
device prior to fitting to foot.
Step Six: Fit SAFO Go back onto patient’s foot. The SAFO Go can be
trimmed around heel and toe areas if needed. Remove from foot prior to
trimming silicone.
Step Seven: For best results ensure patient does not wear for 24hrs after
applying adhesive.
