Did you know that the world's first pipes of PE-RT were developed<br />

by DOW and HPG together and manufactured by HPG?<br />

The high-performance material PE-RT,<br />

that has been used successfully for<br />

many years in heating and sanitary<br />

pipes, is finding more and more fields<br />

of application thanks to its outstanding<br />

properties. The reason is the unique<br />

molecular structure of these thermoplastic<br />

polymers, from which HPG has<br />

been making top-quality pipes for over<br />

20 years.<br />

The material <strong>Flexolen</strong> ® is a polyethylene<br />

developed by HPG with an increased<br />

temperature resistance of the type<br />

PE-RT 63. Pipes of <strong>Flexolen</strong> ® display not<br />

only an outstanding stability against<br />

stress corrosion cracking and a very<br />

good creep strength. They are also<br />

characterised by an excellent flexibility<br />

and are thus extremely easy to handle,<br />

even at low temperatures. In addition,<br />

<strong>Flexolen</strong> ® can be welded and is fully<br />

recyclable as a thermoplastic polymer.<br />

<strong>Flexolen</strong> ® was developed by HPG as<br />

a pipe material especially for surface<br />

heating systems.<br />

With our many years of experience and<br />

an extensive production know-how,<br />

HPG has been a pioneer for PE-RT<br />

pipes since its foundation. The resin<br />

<strong>Flexolen</strong> ® was developed in our own<br />

<strong>com</strong>pany and has led to a definition for<br />

a new type of PE-RT following many<br />

years of testing by an independent test<br />

institute.<br />

<strong>Flexolen</strong> ® pipes are particularly suitable<br />

for floor and surface heating systems<br />

and meet the requirements of ISO<br />

10508 Class 4 (underfloor heating). Our<br />

5-layer >MIDI< Soft pipes of <strong>Flexolen</strong> ®<br />

provide diffusion barrier properties in<br />

accordance with DIN 4726.<br />

<strong>Flexolen</strong> ® pipes are particularly suitable<br />

for floor and surface heating systems<br />

and monitoring contracts for various<br />

pipes of <strong>Flexolen</strong> ® can be found<br />

in the latest version of our technical<br />

manual.<br />

the diameter range 8 mm to 40 mm.<br />

>> Individual wall thicknesses are<br />

possible for every diameter.<br />

Long-term Behaviour<br />

The stress-rupture test curve for<br />

<strong>Flexolen</strong> ® shows the stability under<br />

load of pipes made from this material<br />

at different temperatures and pressure<br />

loads. The <strong>com</strong>parative stress shown<br />

here is independent of dimensions and<br />

thus applies for all pipe sizes.<br />
