Mastering the Role with Product & Skills Coaching
This interactive, hands-on workshop gives ScrumMasters the Agile and Rally product skills
needed to succeed in this important role. Participants take on a series of Agile exercises
chosen for their relevance to the challenges they are facing. Exercises may include:
estimating user stories, planning iterations, facilitating daily stand-ups, signaling team
progress to the organization using Rally and more.

• Facilitating story estimation using Rally’s platform and products
• Running Iteration and Release Planning using Rally’s platform and products
• Supporting their team throughout the iteration, identifying impediments via the

• Using Rally to assist in facilitating daily stand-ups
• Signaling team progress to the organization, sharing key iteration and release metrics
generated from Rally
• Leveraging Rally metrics for demos, reviews and retrospectives
Approach
Conducted collaboratively, Rally for the ScrumMaster focuses on generating the outcomes
participants want to achieve, from basic principles to advanced concepts. Coaches work with
participants to understand which iteration planning, execution and/or reporting problems
the organization needs to solve. The coach then chooses hands-on exercises that specifically
address those needs.
Agenda
1. Introductions & ScrumMaster Review: Participants review key ScrumMaster practices
& principles to ensure a common understanding
2. Story Estimation: Participants learn techniques for facilitating User Story Estimation
3. Planning: Participants plan an iteration and release using Rally
4. Execution: Participants walk through a mock iteration, updating tasks
5. Review, Retrospective, & Demo: Participants are introduced to both Rally’s standard
and custom reporting features to leverage Scrum metrics in the demo, review and
retrospective

Availability
Rally for the ScrumMaster is available as a 4-hour onsite workshop, or as a 4-hour remote
workshop. This session is generally delivered in conjunction with other role-specific
workshops.
Prerequisites
As a prerequisite to this advanced workshop attendees should have a basic understanding of
Rally and the Agile ScrumMaster role.
