The glamour side finally found there way back at Haslam after
3 weeks on opposing teams soil. It was good to finally play in
some familiar surroundings. The C Kings had a number of ins
from round 4 which included Chris Hughes, Oscar Richardson,
Ryan Harris, Michael Banitsiotis, Jarrod Dunhe, Tom Berry, Ross
Andrews and Ethan Callan. A special mention must go to the
biggest inclusion this being James Bucket Hands Hall. Hally had
been sitting on 49games since 2009 and finally found himself on
the field to play game number 50.
The Kings where up against the top of the table Athelstone
Raggies. The Raggies had dominated there previous two
opponents with a combined winning margin of around 250points.
I was a little nervous as to how the young lads would hold up
against the bigger bodies of the opponents.
Raggies got of to good start however the Kings held there own
in the contest and managed to find themselves in the match at
half time being down by only 2 points. The third quarter was the
breaking point; with the Raggies kicking 5 goals to the Kings
1. From then on the lads where unable to find a way back and
ended up going down by 7 goals.
Tom Berry stepped up and snaffled 2 goals whilst Alex
Macfarlane, Anthony Carrettie, Peter Clayer, Sam Lawrence,
Max Grigoul and Jarrod Dunhe finding themselves amongst the
best players whilst Chris Hughes and Oscar Richardson deserve
honourable mentions for putting in good performances.
The lads now find themselves in a 1 win 4 loss position and need
to pick themselves up to tackle Hope Valley this weekend who
look to be another title contender.
