13. (a)Theinversesinefunctionf(x) =sin −1 x is defined as follows:
sin −1 x = y ⇔ sin y = x and − π 2 ≤ y ≤ π 2
Its domain is −1 ≤ x ≤ 1 and its range is − π 2 ≤ y ≤ π 2 .
(b) The inverse cosine function f(x) =cos −1 x is defined as follows:
cos −1 x = y ⇔ cos y = x and 0 ≤ y ≤ π
Its domain is −1 ≤ x ≤ 1 and its range is 0 ≤ y ≤ π.
(c) The inverse tangent function f(x) =tan −1 x is defined as follows:
tan −1 x = y ⇔ tan y = x and − π 2
