AWARDS, ANNUAL MEETING, DANCE SATURDAY, JAN. 14 AT SEVEN SEAS<br />
The <strong>M<strong>and</strong>an</strong> <strong>Horse</strong> & <strong>Saddle</strong> <strong>Club</strong>'s <strong>2011</strong> end-of-the-season <strong>and</strong> 2012 kickoff celebration will<br />
be held Saturday, Jan. 14 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Seven Seas Inn, <strong>M<strong>and</strong>an</strong>. Here’s a rundown<br />
of how to prepare <strong>and</strong> what to expect:<br />
6 p.m. – Social, Potluck & Silent<br />
Auction. Vollmer Angus Ranch (Troy <strong>and</strong><br />
Sara) is providing shredded beef <strong>and</strong> the<br />
club will provide buns for s<strong>and</strong>wiches. Please bring a dish to share <strong>and</strong> an appetizer or dessert.<br />
Please also bring an item for the silent auction to support the <strong>M<strong>and</strong>an</strong> <strong>Horse</strong> & <strong>Saddle</strong> <strong>Club</strong>'s<br />
purchase of prizes for the 2012 season. There will be a cash bar. Invite family <strong>and</strong> friends to<br />
share in the fun! We ask that all kids be accompanied by a parent or other adult.<br />
7 p.m. – Annual Meeting<br />
The primary agenda item is the election of officers <strong>and</strong> board members for 2012. A slate of<br />
c<strong>and</strong>idates will be presented for member consideration at the meeting. If you are interested in<br />
serving on the board, please call President Tammy Backhaus, 258-5368.<br />

7:30 p.m. – Awards Presentation<br />
· Beginner Participation Trophies for those present.<br />
· Year-End Event, All-Around <strong>and</strong> Reserve All-<br />
Around Awards—for contestants in each age division<br />
on the basis of points earned at the four rodeos. Event<br />
prizes sponsored in part by Dakota Community Bank.<br />
· Becky Fisher Memorial Traveling Trophy—For the<br />
contestant (any age) who earned the most points in<br />
timed <strong>and</strong> game events during the season.<br />
· Buddy Kahl Memorial Traveling Trophy "Beginner Persistent Rider Award"—<br />
for the beginner contestant earning the most points who did not earn an all-around award<br />
during the season.<br />
· Sportsmanship Award—selected by a vote of members, generally bestowed on a<br />
member who makes a positive contribution to the club, going above <strong>and</strong> beyond.<br />
8:30 to 12:30 p.m. - Dance<br />
DJ music by Nightlife Entertainment, $5 admission for non-members attending dance only.<br />
Lodging<br />
The Seven Seas is holding a block of rooms through Jan. 1 at a rate of $89. Call 663-7401 <strong>and</strong><br />
be sure to mention you’re with the <strong>M<strong>and</strong>an</strong> <strong>Horse</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Saddle</strong> <strong>Club</strong>.<br />
JACKETS FOR HIGH SCHOOL CONTESTANTS TO BE PRESENTED<br />
<strong>M<strong>and</strong>an</strong> <strong>Horse</strong> & <strong>Saddle</strong> <strong>Club</strong> members who were new contestants in the N.D. High School<br />
Rodeo Association in <strong>2011</strong> <strong>and</strong> high school rodeo contestants who were new members of the<br />
MHSC in <strong>2011</strong> will receive denim jackets from the club at the Jan. 14 awards celebration. The<br />
jackets are being purchased for the fourth year in a row with a portion of proceeds from the<br />
August high school rodeo.<br />
MEMBERSHIP STABLE, PAY DUES JAN. 14 TO WIN DOOR PRIZES<br />
The club continued to enjoy strong participation in <strong>2011</strong> with109 total memberships <strong>and</strong> many<br />
non-member contestants. Numbers were similar to 2010. Those who pay dues at the 2012<br />
annual meeting will have their names entered into a drawing for gift cards <strong>and</strong> other prize<br />
items. Dues are $50 for a family (parents or guardians <strong>and</strong> their unmarried, dependent children<br />
less than 24 years of age as of Jan. 1) or $30 for an individual. For families, each member<br />
present will be eligible for the door prizes. Individual members receive one chance in the<br />
drawing.

A few expenses remain for the annual awards<br />
celebration. These will be reflected on the 2012<br />
financials.<br />
Equipment purchases in <strong>2011</strong> were the new roping<br />
chute, h<strong>and</strong> switch <strong>and</strong> two laptop computers used in<br />
processing entries <strong>and</strong> tracking payouts <strong>and</strong> points for<br />
rodeos. Ideas for 2012 include a new equipment shed.<br />
Lights <strong>and</strong> restrooms remain on the dream list.<br />

will also be presented at the Jan. 14 annual meeting.<br />
ARENA AVAILABLE FOR SUBLEASE<br />
The cost is $100 per day for horseshows, timed event<br />
competitions or horsemanship seminars or $200 for<br />
rodeos or any event involving rough stock (bareback,<br />
saddle bronc, or bull riding). Equal amounts are<br />
required as a deposit. Subleasing of the arena for any<br />
rodeo or rough stock event requires advance approval<br />
of the MHSC board of directors. Proof of insurance is<br />
