Rajendra Prasad was one among the tallest leaders of the freedom<br />
movement of India. After India got freedom, he became the<br />
President of its Constitutent Assembly and the first President of<br />
the Indian Republic (1950-62). Besides being an erudite scholar he<br />
was also an authority on the Constitution.<br />
Acharya P. C. Roy is one of the greatest scientists India had ever<br />
produced, Not only he wrote the History of Hindu Chemistry but<br />
also he established industrial enterprises like 'Bengal Chemicals'.<br />
Among the Congress leaders of Bengal, he was most sympathetic<br />
to Oriya cause and was the President of the First provincial Congress<br />
Committee, Orissa.<br />
Manmath Nath Mukerjee started his career as a lawyer and became<br />
a judge of Calcutta High Court. He received Knighthood from<br />
the British Empire and was for some time the Acting Chief Justice<br />
of Calcutta High Court.<br />
Devaprasad Sarbadhikari, a brilliant student of law and was <strong>Madhusudan</strong>'s<br />
colleague in Bengal Legislative Council. He was a judge<br />
of Calcutta High Court and was for some time the Vice-Chancellor<br />
of Calcutta University. He had also received knighthood. He was<br />
the President of the Utkal Society of Calcutta.<br />
Khaja Mohamad Noor was a lawyer by profession. Later on he<br />
became a judge of Patna Court and also the Vice-chancellor of<br />
Patna University.<br />
S. C. Mallick, though a member of Indian Civil Service, opted for<br />
judicial line and became the judge of Calcutta High Court. He started<br />
his career as a civil servant from Cuttack as Assistant Magistrate<br />
and Collector.<br />
Subodh Chandra Chatterjee, a Ravenshavian, started his career<br />
as a member of the Cuttack Bar. Later on he became a judge of<br />
the Patna High Court.<br />
M. Yunus, a Barrister at Law, was a moderate political leader of<br />
Bihar. He was a member of Bihar and Orissa Legislative Council<br />
and Legislative Assembly of India. In 1937, before congressmen<br />
agreed to accept office, he was Premier of Bihar for some time.<br />
Ganesh Dutta Singh, a conservative political leader of Bihar, had<br />
received knighthood from British Empire. He was a friend and critic<br />
of <strong>Madhusudan</strong>. After <strong>Madhusudan</strong> resigned from the post of Ministership,<br />
he was nominated for the same.
