the proud scion of the sacred 'Sati'.<br />
II -- He leamt from his mother one moral, 'Oh ! Companion,<br />
take care to guard your own prestige'. He never failed to<br />
practise it till his death under any condition.<br />
III- 'Money is like a handful of dust which a man might<br />
through away from his hands and still be a man'. He got<br />
one lakh of Rupees in Victoria Rupees Coins from Raja<br />
of Keonjhar as his fees, but never looked upon the amount<br />
with the acquisitiveness of a fortune-maker. He would<br />
remember his hard days of youth on the paths of struggle<br />
at Calcutta. Thrift was not known to him. Meanness was<br />
his enemy.<br />
IV- He believed in God and never suspected human beings.<br />
That is why he lost 3 lakhs of Rupees and changed 8<br />
managers in the Utkal Tennary. So also he lost in the<br />
other concerns.<br />
V- He adored his mother, grandmother, great grandmother,<br />
his village where he was born and the motherland Orissa.<br />
His primary aim was to make the world know Orissa.<br />
VI- He was obstinate and short-tempered as well as intelligent<br />
and large hearted. Magnanimity in distress and<br />
munificance in affluence were in his blood.<br />
VII- He very often said, '1 am a restless talker not pinned down<br />
to concentrated writing. And I have lived too long, but<br />
too fruitless'."<br />
