Buddha taught it in the Dragon-palace with the<br />

following stanza:<br />

"Give all things till the ego remains;<br />

Give the ego till others remain;<br />

Give others till dharmas remain;<br />

Give dharmas till Buddha you attain."<br />

2. Liberated Holding of the Precepts<br />

All silas, vinayas, or comm<strong>and</strong>ments should be kept<br />

with wisdom, as Buddha once taught:<br />

"Holding the silas, do not depend upon<br />

Body, speech, or mind; or depend upon<br />

Three periods, two sides; or depend upon<br />

Delusion or awareness; depend on none."<br />

3. Liberated Patience<br />

To be patient on the occasion of misery, with harmful<br />

persons, or in difficult situations is good, but not<br />

sufficient to be liberated by the paramita. One who<br />

practices this should follow the main meaning of the<br />

stanza taught by Buddha on the same occasion:<br />

"Patience: never know there is I or you;<br />

Neither keep the idea of mine <strong>and</strong> yours.<br />
