can be made into an atomic bomb. The atom is a<br />

potentiality in its disappearance when the bomb is in<br />

appearance. Both form the complementarity of the<br />

whole entity of truth.<br />

iv. The mystic gate of sovereign power in different <strong>and</strong><br />

opposite forms. Wide or narrow (second gate); one or<br />

many (third gate); subtle or gross (sixth gate) may<br />

interpenetrate one another <strong>and</strong> are freely commutable.<br />

The finger is more narrow than a mountain, it may hide<br />

the mountain in the distance. The atomic bomb is a<br />

destructive, gross matter, but the atom itself is invisible<br />

<strong>and</strong> almost as subtle as spirit when not broken. The<br />

lungs may occupy 600 square feet when extended, but<br />

they fit inside the body as a part of it. There are about<br />

200,000,000,000 nerve cells in one brain. These are<br />

common examples.<br />

By the power of sunyata, the mysterious <strong>and</strong><br />

super-natural maya, though inconceivable, may actually<br />

be realized through this meditation.<br />

v. The mystic gate of the various performances of<br />

separated dharmas in the ten periods. The past, present,<br />

<strong>and</strong> future each contain three periods. Added to them all<br />

considered as a whole they make up the ten periods. By<br />

the gnostic light, Buddha sees the future <strong>and</strong> remembers<br />

the past. Time may go in reverse, known today through<br />

Einstein's theories, but the Buddha knew it nearly 2,500<br />

years ago. Such vertical connections interconnect <strong>and</strong><br />
