One should create in one's meditation a wisdom-fire<br />

which burns the body completely, with nothing<br />

remaining.<br />

13. Yidam<br />

Even the visualized yidam's body should be meditated<br />

upon as empty.<br />

14. Offering the Body<br />

Suicide is forbidden by the Vajrayana, <strong>and</strong> instead the<br />

practice of self-sacrifice through visualization is<br />

stressed by every school, including the Gelugpa. In<br />

visualization, the head is cut off <strong>and</strong> the skull used as a<br />

great boiler. The four limbs <strong>and</strong> the internal organs are<br />

cut into pieces <strong>and</strong> put into the boiler, to be offered as a<br />

meal. Thus one's own body is treated as an offering to<br />

the Buddhas, dakinis, gods, <strong>and</strong> protectors; <strong>and</strong> as alms<br />

for the demons, spirits, ghosts, creditors, <strong>and</strong> enemies<br />

from this life or past lives.<br />

15. In Sleep<br />

While sleeping, one should treat one's body as a corpse,<br />

keeping one's mind united with the Dharmakaya light.<br />

16. In Dreams<br />

When dreaming, one should maintain the Buddha-body<br />
