Mahamudra <strong>and</strong> some Mahayana meditations,<br />

something about this yoga is included, though the<br />

quintessence of the Great Perfection teachings is given<br />

very briefly.<br />

Usually, these teachings are divided into two major<br />

sections: tregchod, which is a practice similar in<br />

philosophy <strong>and</strong> view to Chan; <strong>and</strong> thodgal, which<br />

contains many wonderful methods of practice using the<br />

sun <strong>and</strong> moon in a special position. It is practiced at<br />

certain times, toward certain directions, <strong>and</strong> in a<br />

specially built hermitage.<br />

To shorten the time for accomplishment, there is a very<br />

powerful <strong>and</strong> fruitful method taught in the Nyingmapa<br />

school, called "Attaining the Buddha-body in Only One<br />

Week." It has been introduced in the main part of this<br />

book.<br />

G. Supplement Concerning the Human Body<br />

All the essential positive methods of achieving a<br />

Buddha-body have been set forth in Parts One <strong>and</strong> Two<br />

of this appendix. Now we will discuss negative methods<br />

to destroy the physical body of flesh.<br />

1. Refuge<br />
