movement, <strong>and</strong> the essence with which they move are<br />

all "breathed" through the mystic channels. The<br />

semen-like drops should be understood in a mystic<br />

sense of Buddhahood. Solely under these conditions<br />

will the Buddha-body be not only visualized, but also<br />

existing in fact, integrating Buddha-qualities into a real<br />

Buddha-body. This is the main purpose of the second<br />

initiation of the anuttarayoga.<br />

E. The Perfect Yoga<br />

1. Second Initiation<br />

a. Breathing, or Holy Energies. From coarse to fine,<br />

vulgar to psychic, gross to subtle, <strong>and</strong> from violence to<br />

quietness, breathing practice is taught <strong>and</strong> practiced in<br />

both Hinayana <strong>and</strong> Mahayana, forming a good<br />

foundation for breathing in the Vajrayana.<br />

The five different energies have specific functions in the<br />

different positions of the Buddha-body. Vajrayana<br />

points this out in detail to the practitioner. When one<br />

practices tummo yoga in the second initiation, it should<br />

be done in the following sequence: first, light bottle-like<br />

deep breathing; <strong>and</strong> second, heavy, bottle-like, deepest<br />

breathing. This should be done until a certain degree of<br />

realization is attained <strong>and</strong> the functions of the five<br />

energies are utilized.<br />

Certain naive Hinayana believers claim they also have<br />
