f. Offering. Now the m<strong>and</strong>ala is complete. One should<br />

raise it reverently with both h<strong>and</strong>s, at least as high as the<br />

forehead, <strong>and</strong> make the offering. At the same time one<br />

visualizes with a concentrated mind:<br />

"May these offerings be multiplied to fill this hermitage,<br />

this town, the whole visible world, the realm of<br />

sense-desires, the realm of the form gods <strong>and</strong> that of the<br />

formless gods, until it pervades all the Dharmadhatu!<br />

May these offerings increase in geometric proportion!<br />

May the Nirmanakaya Buddhas, the Sambhogakaya<br />

Buddhas, <strong>and</strong> the Dharmakaya accept what is here<br />

offered to them!"<br />

The great m<strong>and</strong>ala takes several minutes to offer once,<br />

so after the initial offering, the smaller one may be<br />

performed.<br />

4. The Middle M<strong>and</strong>ala<br />

On the base of the m<strong>and</strong>ala make seven little heaps of<br />

rice, representing Sumeru, the four continents, the sun,<br />

<strong>and</strong> the moon. Add a little new rice at each offering.<br />

5. The Small M<strong>and</strong>ala<br />

This m<strong>and</strong>ala is made with the h<strong>and</strong>s (as a mudra) but is<br />

too complicated to describe. In each palm place a little<br />
