c. The merit of realization through the identification of<br />

these two groups of four is the Full Enlightenment of<br />

Buddhahood, so the result is "Great." When the pleasure<br />

passes from one wheel (cakra) to another in the body,<br />

great merits result.<br />

d. To have the company of a dakini is to be with a great<br />

<strong>and</strong> holy person, quite different from a human wife, <strong>and</strong><br />

so we say "Great Lust."<br />

2. Great Anger<br />

In the sense of tummo, one has a great will to burn all<br />

sins through straightening <strong>and</strong> clearing the median<br />

channel. It is said that where human anger exists this<br />

channel is never untangled with the "demon channel"<br />

<strong>and</strong> that men who commit many sins have their median<br />

channels tied up with sorrow. A straight mind is our<br />

temple or m<strong>and</strong>ala <strong>and</strong> untwists our channels, but a<br />

crooked mind tangles them.<br />

Thus, Great Anger is for destroying sins <strong>and</strong> for<br />

vanquishing demons, quite opposite to human anger,<br />

which only creates sins. The latter is like a fire which<br />

burns down a forest of merits, while Great Anger<br />

destroys only demerits. Why are some Buddhas shown<br />

in a wrathful manner? This is the Great Anger of<br />

Buddhahood destroying the demons who persecute<br />
