THE QUESTIONS OF BHIKSU KHANTIPALO<br />

In answer to a list of questions of general interest<br />

presented by the transcriber to Mr. Chen, he said as<br />

follows:<br />

Bhiksu Khantipalo, out of compassion for the readers,<br />

has given me some questions on their behalf. It is<br />

indeed worthwhile to answer them, for the body of this<br />

book is a discussion upon the whole three-yanas-in-one<br />

system of meditation, with the hope that there are some<br />

persons who can follow all of it; on the other h<strong>and</strong>,<br />

these questions are particular points which may be<br />

useful for many people who cannot accomplish the aim<br />

of our meditations—Buddhahood in this one lifetime.<br />

So there will be more benefit from the bhiksu's question<br />

than from our whole book.<br />

At this piece of modesty on the yogi's part, the<br />

transcriber exclaimed, "No, no!" Said Mr. Chen<br />

laughing, "We'll just say something at first to make<br />
