I have written a book in Chinese called "Distinguished<br />

Determinations of Mahamudra," which corrects certain<br />

misconceptions in original Tibetan Mahamudra books<br />

which have been translated into Chinese, including the<br />

works which Evans-Wentz edited, which have been<br />

translated from English into Chinese. A common<br />

mistake among many of these books is to assume that<br />

the first of the above steps is the same as samatha, while<br />

the second is samapatti. This is quite wrong. The<br />

Tantric Mahamudra distinctly differs from the exoteric<br />

meditations of the Mahayana, but people with false<br />

ideas try to make these two resemble each other as<br />

though they were two eggs!<br />
