Hence, in this section on the Vajrayana, we have<br />

from the start very strongly emphasized the<br />

importance of the guru-disciple relationship, <strong>and</strong><br />

also the neglected Vajrayana precepts."<br />

"However, we repeat, if a person receives the third<br />

initiation from his guru <strong>and</strong> is well-prepared by his<br />

previous training in the other yogas <strong>and</strong> yanas, then<br />

there will be no danger for him."<br />

"However," the yogi warned very seriously, "if one<br />

performs vajra-love without the necessary<br />

initiations <strong>and</strong> preparations, then one will fall<br />

straight into hell!"<br />

There are many practical methods for the third initiation,<br />

but here we will only give the main principles, that is,<br />

the perfect identification of the four pleasures with the<br />

four wisdoms. The practical methods themselves must<br />

be obtained from a guru.<br />

3. The Four Sunyatas in the Vajrayana<br />

The meaning of sunyata in the Mahayana <strong>and</strong> that in the<br />

Vajrayana are quite different, though in "Tibetan Yoga<br />

<strong>and</strong> Secret Doctrines," they are listed by the editor as<br />

though the two were comparable. They differ just as the<br />

idea of sunyata in the Hinayana <strong>and</strong> the Mahayana<br />

differs. Evans-Wentz has stated (p.206) that the third<br />

degree of sunyata in the Vajrayana (all-voidness) is<br />
