Third, take the semen up, identifying pleasure <strong>and</strong><br />

sunyata. This state of non-dualism fulfills the meaning<br />

of "alone" in the third mahamudra precept.<br />

Fourth, the semen should then be made to pervade the<br />

whole body; this must be done naturally <strong>and</strong> without<br />

force so that the fourth precept is not broken.<br />

"I have given only selections from the different<br />

precepts (together with their interpretations), for,"<br />

said Mr. Chen, turning over many pages of his book,<br />

"there is no room to deal with them all here." He<br />

said humbly, "I have gathered them together <strong>and</strong><br />

earnestly tried to practice them, but I tearfully<br />

confess that in most people's practice, breaches of<br />

the precepts are often committed."<br />

"In Tibet, the books on meditation do not discuss, as<br />

we have pointed out, the fourteen Tantric precepts.<br />

In a dream last night, a protector deity came to me<br />

<strong>and</strong> asked, 'What are the fourteen precepts?' If even<br />

Tantric deities do not know these, then how<br />

dangerous can ignorance be in the West, where few<br />

books on the Tantra have been published. In these,<br />

passages from Tantric texts, such as the famous line<br />

condoning the use of any woman, whether mother,<br />

sister, or daughter, as a dakini are sometimes<br />

quoted. Without underst<strong>and</strong>ing the context in which<br />

such lines occur, or their hidden meaning, such<br />

publications can bring great danger to the Dharma.<br />
