question. Our attainment of Buddhahood has to show in<br />

the ordinary situations of everyday life—otherwise it is<br />

not perfect Buddhahood. If we have really attained to<br />

Full Enlightenment then we shall, in all places <strong>and</strong> at all<br />

times, always show a Buddha's actions <strong>and</strong> never follow<br />

human ways.<br />

All these points are important for practical purposes <strong>and</strong><br />

are lacking in even well-known Tibetan works. We<br />

should always hold to them for meditation on the yidam<br />

in the growing yoga.<br />

3. Three Kinds of Samatha-Samapatti in the Growing<br />

Yoga<br />

a. First is the growing yoga meditation of sunyata,<br />

which differs from the Mahayana, where there is no<br />

mantra-repetition or visualization practice. Here one<br />

should repeat the mantra <strong>and</strong> visualize the world <strong>and</strong> all<br />

the beings in it as sunyata. This must be done before<br />

visualizing the yidam.<br />

b. From this sunyata meditation, visualize the yidam.<br />

This is a meditation on the reflection of sunyata<br />

(sunyata conditions, not sunyata nature).<br />

These two points taken together are the first step.<br />

The second step, when the yidam meditation is<br />

accomplished, is to visualize all the worship, offerings,<br />
