Now six points remain, <strong>and</strong> these are quite enough for<br />

the purposes of meditation. They all have very profound<br />

meanings which can only be properly realized through<br />

practicing these meditations. As we have already seen,<br />

in almost every ritual of the tantra, the Bodhisattva<br />

Samantabhadra's practice is mentioned <strong>and</strong> we too<br />

should follow his example. It is said in the sutra that he<br />

visualized countless seated Buddhas. Each of their l<strong>and</strong>s<br />

contained innumerable specks of dust <strong>and</strong> in each one of<br />

these he saw a Buddha preaching in his pure l<strong>and</strong>.<br />

2. How Are All These Gates of Mystic Practice<br />

Possible?<br />

The ancients give these ten reasons, as follows:<br />

a. First, because all beings <strong>and</strong> things are manifested<br />

from the Tathagatagarbha (the "womb" of the<br />

Tathagatas).<br />

b. Second, because all beings <strong>and</strong> all things lack a<br />

determinate nature; all move freely, selflessness being<br />

the ultimate truth.<br />

c. Third, because causation (the conditions of dharma) is<br />

interdependent <strong>and</strong> interrelated.<br />

d. Fourth, because dharma-nature (dharmata) or the<br />
