time: the past, present, <strong>and</strong> future seem to be distinct but<br />

in fact each of the three times includes the others.<br />

b. Second is the mystic gate of sovereign power,<br />

without restraint in measure. Whether broad or narrow,<br />

the power <strong>and</strong> action of all beings interpenetrates<br />

without restraint: even insignificant actions include all<br />

actions.<br />

c. The third mystic gate is that of sovereign power in the<br />

capacity of one <strong>and</strong> many, which may contain each<br />

other in different forms. This applies equally to<br />

dissimilar things.<br />

d. Fourth is the mystic gate of sovereign power in<br />

connection with all the dharmas. All dharmas are<br />

without ultimate differences <strong>and</strong> that which is composed<br />

of dharmas, that is, the entity of all things <strong>and</strong> beings,<br />

therefore contains no distinctions or identification of a<br />

self or an ego. Realizing the truth of this, one arrives at<br />

perfect harmony.<br />

e. The fifth mystic gate is that of performance of<br />

manifestation, either as appearance or disappearance.<br />

What is seen <strong>and</strong> what is not seen are complementary<br />

factors forming, when taken together, the unity of<br />

ultimate truth.<br />

f. Sixth is the mystic gate of the subtle existence<br />

interpenetrating all the gross things. Realizing this truth,<br />
