they should go forward to the tenth stage.<br />

10. Although they now realized the perfect Dharmakaya,<br />

still a little subtle jneya-varana (veil of knowledge)<br />

remains. Because of this they lack a little of the<br />

transcendent wisdom <strong>and</strong> mystic views.<br />

When these are gained, bodhisattvas come at last to<br />

Buddhahood. These are the reasons why there are so<br />

many stages in sunyata.<br />

I. What Is the Realization of the Various Stages in<br />

Detail?<br />

1. In the first stage a bodhisattva can:<br />

a. Attain 100 kinds of samadhi;<br />

b. See 100 Buddhas;<br />

c. By his or her supernormal powers, know 100<br />

Buddhas;<br />

d. Move in 100 Buddhas' worlds;<br />

e. Pass <strong>and</strong> look through 100 Buddhal<strong>and</strong>s;<br />

f. Preach in 100 ordinary worlds;<br />

g. Gain long life up to 100 kalpas;<br />

h. Know all events in the past <strong>and</strong> future within a span<br />

of 100 kalpas:<br />

i. Enter into 100 Dharma-gates (methods of Dharma);<br />

j. Appear in 100 bodies;<br />

k. Surround his or her main body with 100<br />

mind-produced bodhisattvas as a "family"; <strong>and</strong><br />
