lower caste, class, or occupation. Such people also have<br />

the Buddha-nature, so what distinction can one make?<br />

c. All vacant maya-like volitions, which mistake the<br />

false for the real, will be given up when one knows that<br />

every person possesses the Buddha-nature.<br />

d. One will not say anything bad concerning the Dharma<br />

or deity. No abuse can come from your lips once you<br />

have known the Buddha-nature.<br />

e. You will not hold to a "self" of any description once<br />

the Buddha-nature is realized, since it is non-self.<br />

2. Furthermore, from these meditations there are five<br />

positive virtues to be gained:<br />

a. Right diligence. Some persons, although they are<br />

diligent, make effort only for self-centered aims <strong>and</strong><br />

objects. While one's diligence is of this kind, one will<br />

not get to the goal for a very long time. If it is right<br />

diligent practice for the Buddha-nature <strong>and</strong> therefore<br />

Dharma-centered, then neither time nor energy is<br />

wasted. Perfect diligence is possessed by one who<br />

knows the Buddha-nature.<br />

Sadly, even most <strong>Buddhist</strong>s do not recognize the<br />

Buddha-nature <strong>and</strong> only do good things for the benefit<br />

of what they mistakenly believe to be a "self." As this is<br />
