J. Does the Vajrayana Also Include the Hinayana<br />

Doctrines?<br />

The answer is yes, definitely yes. In the Tibetan<br />

Vajrayana schools, many books <strong>and</strong> ritual instructions<br />

mention the four outward foundations, <strong>and</strong> these are all<br />

taken from the Hinayana. They are:<br />

1. That enough leisure for study <strong>and</strong> practice as well as<br />

a perfect body are both very difficult to obtain. Here<br />

there is a correspondence with the mindfulness of the<br />

body.<br />
