b. Second: practicing the meditation of tummo will<br />

result in always feeling some ultimate joy in the<br />

Buddha-body.<br />

c. Third: the third mindfulness corresponds with the<br />

transformation of the mind into the light of wisdom.<br />

d. Fourth: the fourth meditation has its correspondence<br />

when all dharmas are sublimated <strong>and</strong> become the<br />

m<strong>and</strong>ala of the Buddha.<br />

The group above only corresponds with the first <strong>and</strong><br />

second initiations of the anuttara-yoga. Taking the third<br />

initiation into account as well, the four voidnesses <strong>and</strong><br />

the four blisses should be added to correspond with the<br />

mindful meditations. (See Ch. XIII, Part Two, Chart.)<br />

3. Breathing <strong>Meditation</strong>s<br />

"We seem," said Mr. Chen, "to have left aside the<br />

breathing meditations."<br />

In the yanas of cause, breath concentration is only an<br />

aid to samatha, but in the yana of consequence, the<br />

Vajrayana, breath occupies an even more important<br />

place than mind. Why? In the exoteric yanas' doctrine,<br />

the training of the mind is always mentioned, <strong>and</strong> the<br />

energy (especially bodily energy) is neglected. In the<br />
