by TMOD TM Gautam Bhatia
Word of the Day: Profound by TM Reena George
General Evaluator: TM Saju Varghese
SAA Opening
Friends of Yoga TMC
MoM # 417
Presidential Address
TMOD Address by TM Gautam
The acting SAA was TM Emma who opened the meeting at
8:20am. Taken by surprise for this role, the acting SAA who
is supposed to know the TM mission by now had a hard time
remembering the exact wording. Advise for you all,
memorize the TM Mission, it is not that long after all :).
After an acting SAA, another acting role player, our
Immediate Past President TM Shanil. TM Shanil
congratulated our Division Champions. Only TM Saju was
in the audience but TM Shanil honored all of them TM
Hanif, TM Aravind and TM Abhilash. The memories of the
contest were still fresh in our IPP’s mind as well as for all the
others who attended the contest. This time, TM Shanil didn’t
get a chance for a story due to time constraint but it felt
good to see our IPP on stage.
TMOD Gautam, smiling as always, took the stage and
introduced his theme. The TMOD was well prepared and
shared his secret on how one can be smart. His method is:
Educate yourself, Expand your horizons, Develop good
habits, Exercise your brain & Develop people’s skills. TM
Gautam shared his experience on all these ways to become
smart. The TMOD made sure to introduce all the role players
with nice words for each of them. TM Gautam does not need
to say ‘I want to be Smart’, he proved he is already smart!!
Brilliant meeting TM Gautam!
Word Master
The Word Master TM Reena made the yogis think early in the morning
by playing a dumb charade to introduce the word of the day and for
sure this method surely worked as the word of the day was used 14
times. The word was ‘Profound’ means ‘great knowledge of
understanding’. Not to go overtime, we had a very brief round robin
session during which 3 Toastmasters used the word. Very innovative TM
Reena! Future Word Masters, please take note, this method works!
Prepared Speeches Session
Project 4 - How to say it by TM Abdul Jaleel
‘Little drops of water make a Mighty ocean’ - TM Abdul Jaleel
always delivers projects with a message and he did it again. TM
Jaleel shared the story of his fellow state mates who went back
home without a penny in their pocket after working decades in
the Gulf. He didn’t want the same to happen to him so with his
friends they created a ‘Friend Credit Union’ and they managed to
buy land and much more coming up. He encouraged the
audience to save at least 10% of their salary every month.
Saving in Dubai is challenging but after listening to such an
enlightening speech, we need to!
Project 5 - Your body speaks by TM Rajesh
‘Sound of Bells’ - Here comes the next Humorous Contestant, TM
Rajesh! TM Rajesh had the audience laughing throughout his
speech. TM Rajesh shared his ‘finding the one’ story… A la
Bollywood style, TM Rajesh was waiting to hear the sound of
bells that would confirm that she is the one. So he spent time
waiting at a Girl’s College… nothing happened. Then his parents
had to take over the matter and find a bride for the speaker. The
humor in his speech was fantastic, we got to know about his
parents and his wife.
!
Project 1 - Advanced Project for ALS by TM Leo D’Souza
TM Leo, the Lion, took the stage to present his HPL project, the
creation of his own website www.leoconrad.com. TM Leo will be
the first DTM of Friends of Yoga. This is an honor for FOY TMC.
TM Leo, our current Area Governor, has always been a support
to our club as well as many clubs in Dubai, we are proud that we
are his home club. To create his website, TM Leo pulled a team
together, selected a guidance committee, organized photo shoot,
had a timeline. As TM Leo said, goals are just dreams without a
timeframe so to be successful, it is crucial to have a timeframe.
Mabrook TM Leo and we are looking forward to introducing you
shortly as DTM Leo!
Table Topics Session
Hosted by
TM George
The jolly and easy going TM George conducted the Table
Topics session. For the benefit of the guests, TM George
briefed on the purpose of the TT session. With his assertive
voice, the TT Master called two members and one guest on
the stage
TM Karthik Keyan
‘Human being rule the
world because of his
smartness, not because
of physical strength.’
TM Biju
‘Street Smart or Book
Smart, which one is
the most accepted?’
TM Anaswar
Evaluation Session headed by TM Saju Varghese
Evaluation for Speech #1 by TM Sebastian
TM Sebastian appreciated the preparation and the confidence displayed by
TM Jaleel. The evaluator confirmed that the speaker avoided to use any
jargon. TM Sebastian recommended to reduce the speed and use pauses in
the speech. Also the speaker could have used more similes, metaphors and
triads to meet the objectives of the project.
Evaluation for Speech #2 by TM Sonali
TM Sonali loved the doses of humor in the speech. It is a pleasure to hear TM
Sonali evaluating a speaker because of the choice of words she makes. TM
Sonali advised the speaker that he could have added some acting at the
beginning to build up the suspense and story. TM Sonali would have loved to
hear the sound of the bell.
Evaluation for Speech #3 by TM Sashi
Sashi was proud to be evaluating the speech of a future DTM. TM Sashi
mentioned that the speech was well organized as it had an agenda, business
statement and separate sections with which we could understand how TM
Leo went about his project. The evaluator told us what the name Leo stood
for ‘Legendary, Extraordinary and Outstanding’ and for sure this is it!
TERIMA KASIH TM SAJU
FOR THE MEMENTO FROM MALAYSIA
General Evaluation
The General Evaluator, TM Saju,
appreciated the energy of our IPP and
how the IPP built suspense in introducing
the Division F club champions. The GE
thoroughly enjoyed the meeting and the
preparation of the TMOD. One
recommendation for the TMOD was to
have one slide for each advise on how
to be smart. TM Saju loved how TM
Reena introduced the word of the day.
TM Saju would like to see the mission on the agenda. TM
Saju suggested for the Table Topics session to announce the
topic first before announcing the name of the TT speaker so
in this way this will for the entire audience to think on the
topic. TM Saju loved the new Movie review session! Our
Evaluation Champion always provides FOY with great
recommendations and is always a pleasure to see him on
Grammarian Report
When TM Reena is a grammarian,
role players better watch out as
nothing, good or bad will be missed.
Our VP had to cut it short due to time
but she conveyed some of the great
usage of language as well as areas
of improvement.
Movie Review
Ah Counter
Closing Session
EIDI
Awards
Best Table Topics Speaker
TM Anaswar
Our VP PR, TM Lisbella, proved it
again to be the Vitamin C of the club
(C for creativity) as our President
would say. We are introducing a
Book and Movie review session.
Instead of having 4 Trivia sessions,
we will have two in a month and on
the other 2 weeks with no trivia, we
will either have a book or movie
review. This week TM Lisbella
recommended the Iranian Movie
‘Children of Heaven’. An inspiring
movie with the story of a brother and
sister aged 5 & 7 who had to share a
pair of shoes. There is a remake of
the movie in Bollywood ‘BummBumm
Bole’ and a Singaporian version too
but TM Lisbella recommended us to
go for the original Iranian version.
