PRE-PARE ® Risk Share Program Offers Guarantee
for Winter Wheat Growers
CARY, N.C. (August 13, 2013) – When growing winter wheat, producers may face uncertainties
− the weather, the amount of moisture, timing – and all can play a role in successful yields.
That’s where the PRE-PARE ® Burndown Herbicide Winter Wheat Risk Share Program comes in
to assist growers.
The PRE-PARE Risk Share Program, from Arysta LifeScience, helps winter wheat growers
manage the threats involved with the crop by offering additional peace of mind when using
PRE-PARE Burndown Herbicide. If the wheat field is terminated or unharvestable as of August
15, 2014, due to weather-created natural disasters (including drought, hail, floods, freezes, etc.)
as verified by Arysta LifeScience, the company will refund a grower’s product by October 15,
2014.
Growers eligible for a refund will receive equivalent value (at suggested grower prices) of their
choice of PRE-PARE Herbicide or EVEREST ® 2.0 Herbicide.
Eligible winter wheat fields must be treated with PRE-PARE between August 1, 2013, and
October 31, 2013. To learn more and to enroll in the PRE-PARE Risk Share Program, visit
www.prepareriskshare.com.
“The PRE-PARE Risk Share Program is intended to offer growers additional peace of mind
above what they receive by using PRE-PARE in their winter wheat glyphosate burndown
program,” said Royce Schulte, US Herbicides Product Manager, Arysta LifeScience. “Arysta
LifeScience wants winter wheat growers to know not only of the benefits of using PRE-PARE
with glyphosate against bromes but also how the PRE-PARE Risk Share Program gives them
additional protection against Mother Nature.”
Independent research shows if downy brome emerges within 14 days of a winter wheat crop, it
can reduce yield by 15-22 percent and produce four times more weed seed than downy brome
that emerges later.
“If downy brome emerges at the same time as winter wheat and is allowed to compete with the
crop, that is where we see the greatest impact on yield,” said Ed Davis, weed science research
associate, Montana State University.”
PRE-PARE Burndown Herbicide, from Arysta LifeScience, allows growers to seed earlier and
establish a winter wheat crop that gets a head start on the management of annual weeds.
Specifically, PRE-PARE with glyphosate controls early emerging bromes for up to 21 days,
which significantly reduces the overall brome population, helping the winter wheat crop to
establish strong stands.
“By enrolling in the 2013-2014 Risk Share Program, winter wheat growers get both superior
protection against yield-robbing weeds as well as an additional defense against wind, rain and
other weather-related threats to their crops,” Schulte added.
