An unstoppable current, sweeping through the river,<br />
Carrying on its back the tales of upstream to pass on to those in front of<br />

And as they run together they murmur,<br />

Hush<br />
Saying goodbye<br />
was easy.<br />
Finding a place again<br />
with; an old couch,<br />
gushing wind,<br />
telephone,<br />
and<br />
slightly damp sheepskin covers.<br />
Our voices, clustered,<br />
shuddering over<br />
old times<br />
bad jokes<br />
a simple farewell<br />
and a click.<br />
But walking into a<br />
bare room at night<br />
whips a cover off<br />
the desperation.<br />
Glaring electric light<br />
pinpoints the<br />
factthere<br />
is nothing quite so tragic<br />
as an empty kitchen.<br />
Yet…<br />
it stands there,<br />
with<br />
two hideous silhouettes.<br />
Myself and 1am.<br />
and this<br />
hush<br />
the last thing left unsaid.<br />
