Crystals creeping from root to tip<br />
the tree stands alone.<br />
Rosy cheeks from ice-cold winds<br />
rainbow coloured scarf<br />
Posing for the camera-- say cheese!<br />

Encircled by the soaring pines<br />
an icy sculptured tree<br />
Distant pond once running<br />
now solid white, not free.<br />
Snapshot of these memories<br />

This is what I do when I‟m stuck in two 1<br />
places, both of which I don‟t want to be.<br />
I sit and write about stupid things like<br />
sticky glue,<br />
two oddly paired shoes, 5<br />
sometimes I‟ll even write a stray line about you.<br />
My bedroom‟s too hot but outside it‟s too cold.<br />
The wind is blocked, but I want it to whisk me away.<br />
So I sit down again and write about things like<br />
sinking boats, 10<br />
old fashioned telephones,<br />
maybe strum a few chords about your incorporeal throne<br />
I don‟t need you for inspiration;<br />
I‟m just fine with my imagination.<br />
It works better than you in terms of teleportation. 15<br />
And now I get to decide my own destination.<br />
Something dawned on me so I said it out loud.<br />
Unfortunately I didn‟t like the response.<br />
So I grabbed a pen and wrote about<br />
broken fans, 20<br />
cakes in pans,<br />
and I sung a note or two about your unfinished plans.<br />
The heavens were strung up on a chain,<br />
so I tied it up and hung it around my neck.<br />
It helped me think and I wrote my thoughts about 25<br />
