Brief Description:<br />

Every wanted to be a Rock Star? Well there are opportunities this summer at the Davie Family <strong>YMCA</strong> to become a camp<br />

counselor and feel like a Rock Star every day. Your campers will chant your name, want to dress like you, and think you are<br />

the coolest person who ever lived. You will have the opportunity to develop amazing friendships that last a lifetime and<br />

positively impact the lives <strong>of</strong> the kids you work with.<br />

6:30am-6:00pm (variety <strong>of</strong> shifts available up to 30 hours/week)<br />

Part time/Seasonal/ Non-Exempt<br />

$7.50 - $10.00 (starting salary based on experience)<br />

Program Director<br />

Qualifications:<br />

Must be 18 yrs <strong>of</strong> age with a high school diploma or GED and have a strong desire and ability to work with children<br />

outdoors for up to 5 hours at a time, and to relate to one’s peer group. Candidates should have the ability to accept<br />

supervision and guidance from camp supervisors, and provide strong customer service to parents at all times. Ability to<br />

assist in teaching an activity such as: arts and crafts, archery, swimming, group games, character development and<br />

teambuilding. Good character, integrity, and adaptability, enthusiasm, sense <strong>of</strong> humor, patience, and self- control. Must be<br />

willing lead songs, participate in skits, dress up according to the weekly theme <strong>of</strong> camp, and encourage campers to do the<br />

same. Punctuality and flexibility are key. Ability to demonstrate the five character development traits <strong>of</strong> the <strong>YMCA</strong> (caring,<br />

honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith). <strong>Counselor</strong>s are expected to swim daily with the campers. Must attend<br />

mandatory staff training on June 1st and obtain CPR/First Aid Certification, as well as all other camp trainings and staff<br />

meetings throughout the summer. Comfortable with leading devotions and assemblies as needed. Stress management skills<br />

are a must.<br />

Preferred candidates will have completed NCECC B.S.A.C. CPR/FA certifications and meet all other qualifications to serve as<br />

a consular for licensed childcare facility.<br />

TRAININGS HELD BY YOUR CAMP DIRECTOR.<br />
