Brief Description:<br />
Ever felt like a Rock Star? Well there are opportunities this summer at your local <strong>YMCA</strong>. Become a <strong>Camp</strong><br />
<strong>Counselor</strong> at our <strong>YMCA</strong> <strong>Summer</strong> Day <strong>Camp</strong>s. Every day you will feel like a Rock Star to your campers. They will<br />
chant your name, want to dress like you, and think you are the coolest person that ever lived. You will develop<br />
amazing friendships that last and positively impact the lives <strong>of</strong> the kids you work with.<br />

6:00 am – 6:00 pm M-F. Scheduled for up to 25 hours per week.<br />
Hours and days may vary.<br />
Part-time, Non-exempt<br />
Status:<br />
Salary Range: $7.25-$7.50 per hour<br />
Reports to: Program Director<br />
Desire and ability to work with children outdoors for up to 5 hours at a time, and to relate to one’s peer<br />
group. Candidates should have the ability to accept supervision and guidance from camp supervisors,<br />
and provide strong customer service to parents at all times. Ability to assist in teaching an activity<br />
such as: arts and crafts, archery, swimming, group games, character development and teambuilding.<br />
Good character, integrity, and adaptability, enthusiasm, sense <strong>of</strong> humor, patience, and self- control.<br />
Must be willing lead songs, participate in skits, dress up according to the weekly theme <strong>of</strong> camp, and<br />
encourage campers to do the same. Punctuality and flexibility are key. Must be able to demonstrate<br />
the five character development traits <strong>of</strong> the <strong>YMCA</strong>, (caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith).<br />
<strong>Counselor</strong>s are expected to swim with the campers. Must attend mandatory staff training on June 1 st<br />
and obtain CPR/First Aid Certification, as well as all other camp trainings and staff meetings throughout<br />
the summer. Comfortable with leading devotions and assemblies as needed. Stress management skills<br />
are a must.<br />
