A poem of contrasts, with the beauty of velvet, honey and blushes<br />

contrasted with the bittersweet of dust, rust and decay and the final<br />

chilling line.<br />

Lighthouse<br />

When the gravestone grey waters<br />

swirl with an evil menace<br />

and crash against the hulls of creaking, wooden ships<br />

you will guide the way to safety<br />

lighthouse.<br />

And the wind whips up in a fury<br />

battering against the portholes<br />

crying out eerily with the voice of tortured mermaids<br />

you will show the way to shore<br />

lighthouse.<br />

When the sodden flags crack<br />

against the dripping masts<br />

and the ropes swell with the seawater<br />

you will guide the way to safety<br />

lighthouse.<br />

When the sky cracks and fizzles<br />

bearing down upon the tiny, toy-like ships<br />

and a shot of lightening crackles across the clouds<br />

you will show the way to shore
