It detailed lots of hope and promise for 2007 to be built on a good year in 2006. Based on this year’s performance I fear that many didn’t read or take seriously my comments about challenging for a 1 st grade position with a commitment to train hard and improve. Unfortunately our results didn’t live up to expectation and our commitment to the team, club and training let us down. I know that there are many distractions and forces outside hockey that take up our time but there seems to be an “all talk – not much effort” mentality in our second grade ranks. We could never train as a team all year because only the committed few would attend on a regular basis. Coupled with this was a lack of communication skills and planning in relation to availability on match day which found the club struggling to find 11 fresh players at times which Glebe District Hockey Club 77th Annual Report Page 43
