DRINKING WATER<br />

g. Water Sampling Program: Each facility utilizing ground (well) or surface water as a source for<br />

facility provided drinking water must have a water quality sampling program in place. As a<br />

minimum, the following requirements must be met:<br />

• Sampling frequency based upon user population:<br />

Population<br />

Minimum Samples/quarter (every 3 rd month)<br />

25 to 999 1<br />

1,000 to 4,999 10<br />

5,000 9,999 15<br />

10,000 to 19,999 20<br />

> 20,000 50<br />

• Bacteria and disinfection acceptance levels:<br />

- Fecal coliforms = 0.0.<br />

- 99.9% inactivation of Giardia Lamblia Cysts, 99.99% inactivation of viruses.<br />

- Residential disinfectant concentration entering the system cannot be less than 0.2<br />

mg/L<br />

- Measured total chlorine, combined chlorine or chlorine dioxide must be detectable<br />

in 95% of the samples each month.<br />

3. TRAINING—<br />

Water quality awareness: All employees in facilities utilizing ground (well) or surface water must<br />

receive awareness level training regarding the location’s water quality standards and procedures.<br />

At a minimum, training must include:<br />

• Report procedures for any drinking water related illness, which requires first aid or other<br />

medical assistance.<br />

• Illness reporting procedures.<br />

Water quality training: All employees responsible for maintenance of water quality at a facility must<br />

receive training in emergency response in the event of a drinking water contamination event.<br />

4. DOCUMENTATION—<br />

Training Records: Each facility must maintain training records for a minimum of 3 years.<br />

Medical Records: Each facility must maintain confidential and secure medical records for the minimum<br />

length of employment, plus 30 years. Medical records shall not be disclosed without employee’s written<br />

consent, except as required by law.<br />

<strong>Inc</strong>ident Records: Each facility must maintain incident records for a minimum of 5 years.<br />

Other Records: Each facility must maintain records for:<br />

a. Current risk assessment.<br />
