OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH MANAGMENT<br />

• A minimum of one private bed for each 1000 employees.<br />

• Equip the clinic facility with a mechanical ventilation system that is capable of maintaining<br />

the temperature between 21 and 27 degrees Celsius (70 – 80 F) at all times.<br />

• Strict adherence to sanitation standards.<br />

b. Health Surveillance:<br />

A structured health surveillance program based on the results of the Risk Assessment.<br />

A system to analyze the results of the surveillance programs, and provide guidance for<br />

corrective action and medical treatment.<br />

Evaluation of the general health of employees at all stages of the employment (preemployment,<br />

baseline testing, pre-assignment, post sickness).<br />

A competent doctor, occupational healthcare professional or competent authority must<br />

perform the health surveillance.<br />

Occupational health data must be reviewed for trend identification and health promotion<br />

activity planning.<br />

c. Health promotion: preventative measures must be in place as a means of reducing the overall<br />

health risk of the workforce (e.g. smoking cessation, tetanus vaccinations, Hepatitis B<br />

vaccinations, women’s health month activities, etc.).<br />

d. Each employee has access to the health medical records relating to him or her personally.<br />

3. TRAINING— All employees must receive information and/or training relating to physical and mental<br />

health and social wellbeing.<br />

Health Care Workers: must receive certified training for the level of care for which they provide.<br />

4. DOCUMENTATION—<br />

Training Records: Each facility must maintain training records for a minimum of 3 years.<br />

Medical Records: Each facility must maintain confidential and secure medical records for a minimum<br />

length of employment plus 30 years. Medical records shall not be disclosed without employee’s written<br />

consent, except as required by law.<br />

<strong>Inc</strong>ident Records: Each facility must maintain incident records for a minimum of 5 years.<br />

Other Records:<br />

a. Current risk assessment.<br />

b. Maintenance and calibration equipment for a minimum of 3 years.<br />
