c. Provision for the proper use of personal protective equipment when working with equipment or<br />
materials containing PCBs.<br />
d. Inspections to verify the condition of equipment or materials containing PCBs at least annually.<br />
e. Written spill response procedures for containment of any spills from equipment containing PCBs.<br />
f. Spill clean up materials available sufficient for the amount of PCB materials contained.<br />
g. Decontamination of all PCB contaminated materials not disposed of or destined for reuse.<br />
h. All equipment or materials containing PCBs removed for disposal must be segregated and sent<br />
to an approved disposal facility that is authorized to accept waste PCBs.<br />
3. TRAINING—Employees whose work may involve contact with equipment or materials containing<br />
PCBs, such as maintenance or custodial staff, will receive training which must include:<br />

Health and environment hazards associated PCBs.<br />
Location of equipment or other materials containing PCBs.<br />
Spill response and containment of leaks from equipment containing PCBs.<br />
Use, fitting, limitations and care of personal protective equipment.<br />
Proper disposal methods for equipment, such as light ballasts, containing PCBs.<br />
Procedures for the maintenance of equipment and materials containing PCBs.<br />
4. DOCUMENTATION—<br />
Training Records: Employee training records must be available and retained for at least 3 years.<br />
<strong>Inc</strong>ident Records: Records must be kept of all incidents involving PCBs. <strong>The</strong>se records must be kept for a<br />
minimum of 5 years.<br />
Other Records:<br />
a. Current PCB Risk Assessment.<br />
b. Inspections of equipment or materials containing PCBs kept for a minimum of 3 years.<br />
c. Removal and disposal documents for waste PCBs or decommissioned equipment for a minimum<br />
of 5 years.<br />
Except where specifically identified as a recommended practice, this Code Leadership Standard sets minimum<br />
standards – contractors must comply with any applicable higher legal requirement and are encouraged to<br />
continue to develop their own practices which provide greater protection for their employees.<br />
