b. Communicate to employees the names, location, and contact information for certified first aid<br />
responders.<br />
c. Maintain required first aid certifications.<br />
4. FIRST AID MATERIALS—Each facility must have first aid materials (e.g. first aid kits, AED, stretcher, etc.)<br />
available based on the risk. First aid kits must contain at a minimum:<br />
a. Sterile adhesive bandages (assorted sizes).<br />
b. Absorbent compress.<br />
c. Sterile eye pads.<br />
d. Triangular bandages.<br />
e. Burn treatment.<br />
f. Disposable gloves.<br />
g. Visible signage for first aid boxes and equipment.<br />
h. Monthly inspection and replenishment to meet minimum content requirements<br />
5. EYEWASH AND BODY FLUSH EQUIPMENT —When there is a risk of chemical exposure to eyes, face or<br />
body, eyewash or body flush equipment is required, the equipment must meet the following<br />
minimum requirements:<br />
a. Water must be potable (drinkable).<br />
b. Velocity of water is such that no injury occurs.<br />
c. Minimum flow rate: 1.5 L for a minimum of 15 minutes.<br />
d. No sharp projections.<br />
e. Nozzles covered to prevent airborne contamination.<br />
f. Control valve easily located and when activated remains on until turned off.<br />
g. Within 30 m (100 ft) of hazardous material.<br />
h. Accessible and identifiable with a highly visible sign.<br />
i. Water nozzles positioned between 83.8 cm (33 inches) and 114.3 cm (45 inches) from the floor.<br />
j. Self contained units containing a reservoir of flushing fluid must be constructed of materials that<br />
will not corrode. <strong>The</strong> flushing fluid must be protected from airborne contaminants.<br />
k. Water temperature in units must be maintained between 15 and 35 C (60 to 90° F).<br />
l. All equipment and piping must be freeze protected.<br />
m. Plumbed eyewash units must be activated weekly to flush the line and verify proper operation.<br />
Self-contained units must be inspected according to manufacturers' specification.<br />
